Show students that you care about them and their learning
Caring relationships with teachers help students do better in the classroom and act more kindly towards others. A caring teacher can transform the classroom experience especially for struggling students.
Give Precise Praise
Publicly praise students who demonstrate excellence or exemplify virtues. Differentiate between acknowledgement and praise. Do not praise students for doing what is expected of them.
Use the time before class starts to greet students, and use break times to talk to students about their personal lives as well as their interests.
