Utilize student experiences and knowledge
Utilize Student Knowledge
Constantly seek opportunities to assess what your students know and have retained in your class.
Elicit Prior Knowledge
Whenever possible, ask students if they know anything about the topic, have they experienced anything regarding the topic or if they dislike/like certain things about the topic.
Confirm New Knowledge
Have students summarize what they have learned in a component before moving on to a different component to confirm their understanding. (Ex. Summarize main ideas in Skim component before moving on to Summarize component)
